Birth Parent Child Admission (BPCA)

Birth Parent Child Admission (BPCA)

BSSK is authorised to care for children from birth to 6 years old. All children admitted to BSSK are referred through the Child Welfare Committee (CWC). The BPCA program emphasises the birth parent (minor/adult), family members, and children who have been surrendered, abandoned, or are under temporary care. The following interventions are approached with great sensitivity, empathy, patience, and understanding:

  1. Counselling
  2. Comprehensive care for the birth mother (including physical, emotional, social, antenatal, and postnatal needs)
  3. Preserving the birth family or facilitating the child’s release for adoption
  4. Rehabilitating the birth parent
  5. Processes managed through the CWC in the best interests of the child
  6. Legal investigations (e.g., tracing the family of an abandoned child)

BSSK serves as a robust support system for the birth mother and family during their challenging times of need.

Impact to date: Restored 680 children with their birth parents.
