Bharatiya Samaj Seva Kendra (BSSK) was founded in Pune in 1979, to offer care and protection to vulnerable orphan, and destitute children. Our main goal is to provide these children permanent, stable and secure homes. We also provide education and other related services to children and families in need, irrespective of caste, creed, community or religion. BSSK is a nonpolitical, nonprofit making organization registered under:
- The Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950
- The Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 [2 of 2016] (JJ ACT)
- Recognized by the Women and Child Department (WCD), Government of Maharashtra as a Specialized Adoption Agency (SAA)
BSSK also works in Aurangabad, Chiplun (1995) and Sangli (1997).
BSSK aims to provide:
- Permanent rehabilitation, safeguarding the right of a child to have a family of its own
- A child’s right to education and consequently ensuring a life of dignity
- To enhance the quality of life of families through a range of services
Our expertise over 3 decades of service:
- Child friendly homes with neo-natal unit, hygienic kitchen, designated play areas and schools, managed by professional staff with love and care provided by “Aai’s”(mothers)
- BSSK excels in child care practices, adoption services and educational interventions. BSSK conducts all its activities with care, understanding and sensitivity
- Knowledge and Standardized Content developed through our practical expertise and experience is shared in workshops/ conferences and with other organizations
- Child Nutrition Program (CNP)—Nutritional assessment of community children and trainings for their mothers Montessori Method of teaching the children in our residential care and community. Training programs for the Anganwadi teachers.
- Best practices in Identification, Monitoring and Evaluation of an Ashram school in the areas such as book keeping, child nutrition, hygiene and education.
- Keeping Updated: Research projects constantly undertaken to help us evolve as an organization and also contribute to the field of child and family well-being.

Whom Do We Serve?
Orphan/destitute children, often admitted frail, underweight and in need of immediate medical attention; Young unwed mothers/families in distress, not accepted by family and society; School & college students, professionals, farm workers, domestic helpers etc.
Young & middle-aged couples who desire to become parents, having failed in spite of different treatments and choosing adoption as the final option or as a choice.
Vulnerable children (Preschool to XII) with the drive to be educated but belonging to underprivileged families. The parents are largely uneducated, daily wage workers and unable to provide the appropriate guidance.
